At first I liked the heavy descriptive language, but then it got into the history of Becky's parents and became like a friend telling you an abbreviated but long history: you can tell it means something to the friend, but because they are paraphrasing, you don't get the full impact of it - they are hiding the experience, the small details, the things that make it emotionally resonant to them and giving you a lovely but glossed over version, and I couldn't take 300 more pages of it.
