1. it was funny how the person who wrote the foreword rhapsodized about the innovation of making animalized humans or humanized animals and forgot to mention Maus??
2. the art is fantastic
3. why doesn't blacksad have claws/fingernails? I mean, he does, because we see (but sight unseen) him rip up a punching bag, but not in the closeups, but other cat style characters have visible nails and he doesn't, so why are his retractable and theirs aren't? why did this bother me so much?
4. my comics "root" as it were was [b: Garfield: His 9 Lives|1435085|Garfield His 9 Lives|Jim Davis|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1387737436s/1435085.jpg|1425639], so this really took me back to that and I was predisposed to like it
5. but ultimately the storylines felt predetermined not in a genre way which I like, but in a way where nothing was really surprising to the characters, and things moved so fast that it wasn't worth it to try to follow the twists of deduction, if there were any.
6. I realize this is a throwback to hardboiled detectives but I got sick of the boilerplate "sexy woman". I know they're fun to draw.
