I think when the trilogy is completed this will be a comics classic. I get why they chose to frame it with barack obama's inaguration, but I don't think it was necessary - instead of putting me in historical perspective it brought me out of the story.
this volume covers a lot of time and many people, with the central focus being the freedom riders. I get a sense that it glosses over a lot of discussion between the groups involved - CORE SNCC, SDS and the federal government, but you get enough of a taste to see how complicated things were and appreciate how much effort it was to organize the movement.
