"The first thing you find out when yer dog learns to talk is that dogs don't got nothing much to say. About anything.
'Need a poo, Todd.'
'Shut up, Manchee.'
'Poo. Poo, Todd.'
'I said shut it.'"
How about them opening lines?
I kind of want to give this five stars, because Todd's voice and the world he inhabits sink their claws into you and drag you along through the almost-500 pages of this book relentlessly. The narration is so detailed and suspenseful that I kept having to stop my eyes from skipping down the page. But it wasn't quite life-changing, so I will reserve my five stars for that.
Reread: August 2015
Emotionally brutal, still.
