Although it drags a bit in the latter half, spending a little too much time on Blaine and the blog, this is overall a book that blends a rootable love story with a look at race and identity. And of course, love has a lot to do with identity - how we learn it, how we choose our partners, how we love ourselves, how we choose where we are in the world, how we respond to what happens to us in the world. Curious to see what the book club will make of it. But so glad we didn't go with All the Light we Cannot See.
