it's been awhile since I read the first of this series but I had no trouble getting into the 2nd book. it was just what I wanted to read. this is totally written in the style of lemony snicket. I would never call it a rip off, but it does borrow many of the elements of the series of unfortunate events. I like Penelope and the Incorrigibles too much to feel like it's a rehash, though. And I'm genuinely intrigued by the mystery. I mean, some things are meant to be pretty obvious. but enough are being obscured. and I love how much they mention ferns in this book. too bad Wood chose to use a stereotype of a Roma lady.
