If you're easily grossed out or horrified, this is not the book for you. Melinek explores 2 years of a job working as a medical examiner in NYC, when 9/11 happened and after. She breaks up the book into types of death: poison, murder, disaster, etc. Her descriptions are humane and clear, she is obviously fascinated by the human body and what it tells us about death and life, but doesn't lose sight of the lives behind the bodies.
