I don't know why I put off reading this (I came under the mistaken impression that it was set further in the past, like WWI I think?) but I'm glad that I did because it means I saved some French to read on vacation. I was pretty proud of myself for partially figuring it out in the early part of the book, but that's not the point of her mysteries (although they are tense). Sure, Rosie was seen through seriously rose colored glasses, but it read as true to the people in the neighborhood. mostly I don't want to nitpick because it was such a satisfying read.
