There's a badly photoshopped eye in the middle of a flower on the back cover of the book. That's what made me want to read it. Just in case any cover-designers are taking note.
The premise is similar to Mu shi shi in that it's about folk stories that come to life or are real - but this is more about horrors or urban legends, rather than... weird spirit diseases (I really like Mu shi shi, btw). And this has more humor - cf. the porn addiction of the detective which was so lighthearted that it wasn't creepy.
The 3rd story in this volume got a little too convoluted for its own good, and added a plot element that was weird and only necessary to put a twist on the end. There must have been a better way. I'd be interested to see what else they come up with for the next volume(s).
