When this first was published I mistook it for a straight up guide to gaming ladies and was creeped out by it. Years later I realized that Neil Strauss is actually a real writer and a more than a marketing tactic, so I checked the book out of the library. Because I love reading about people who get obsessed with things, I love reading about people changing themselves, and this book is an exploration of both. It's also really honest. It talks about the jerky, gross aspects of the lifestyle, and the beneficial aspects of it, and the inbetween parts that are hard to categorize. I had no idea how many competing schools of seduction there were/are.
I see that Mr. Strauss has not been able to completely retire Style and now runs his own workshops (Stylelife). I'd love to read more about his current perspective on the PUA subculture now that it's considerably more mainstream.
